Ingredients
- (2 slices) bread
- (2 tbsp) butter
- (1/2) apple, sliced
- (1 clove) garlic, chopped
- (1/4 cup (or to your preference)) red onion, sliced
- (4 slices) Bacon
- (2 - 3 large slices (or to your liking - slice # dependent on block size)) cheese (your choice - we used cheddar and muenster)
Directions
Warm up with a tasty grilled cheese!
- Simply start by cooking the bacon in a skillet on medium heat. While bacon is heating, prep your apple, garlic, and onion.
- When bacon is nearly cooked, add in apple, garlic, and onion.
- While those are cooking (in the bacon grease), add just a little butter to one side of each slice of bread.
- When the apple, garlic, and onion are softened and just browning, and bacon is done, add one slice of bread, butter side down, into the skillet.
- Layer the cheese onto the bread so it covers the bottom.
- Add the apple, garlic, onion, and bacon to the top of the cheese.
- Add another slice of cheese for good measure.
- Add the second slice of bread, butter side out (so when you flip it, the butter will be in contact with the skillet).
- Heat over low-medium to ensure the cheese melts on the inside in conjunction with the bread.
- If the pan and bacon grease are too hot before you put the bread on, remove the skillet from the burner for a few minutes to let it cool. If you put the bread into a hot skillet, the outside will burn before the cheese on the inside melts.
- Slice and serve up alongside a nice green salad, and enjoy!
